I am a soft sculpture artist, an illustrator and graphic designer.
My soft sculpture work is a natural extension of my illustration style, much of which reflects a whimsical theme.
I began my soft sculpture career during my teenage years.
My little sister had an imaginary friend, Kimberly. Thinking she
might be lonely and taking a chance on sewing an imaginary
friend, I made Kimberly. My sister loved her and it was then
that I realized how much I loved to create 3-dimensionally.
I studied illustration at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Occasionally, I would enjoy fulfilling class assignments with
3-dimensional work. It wasn't until after college that I began
to make bears and other objects.
My first commissioned piece was an 18 inch stuffed human
heart, for a heart exhibit in Hartford, CT.
